| This mele hula was composed about 1952. In its words are a poetical description of love where the lehua is being caressed by its sweetheart, the misty rain. Light rains are symbolic of the joys of love in Hawaiian poetry. Flowers and leis are also representations of loved ones in poetry. This is not a mele hoalohaloha when someone wants to draw love to the composer but it is just a song descriptive of the joys of love itself. |
