Aloha...I am married to vocal arranger/master ukulele artist
Paul martinez who continues to celebrate & preserve the artistry of close four part harmony in Hawaiian Contemporary music. This is a style of harmony that is reminiscent of groups from Hawaii's past such as Richard Kauhi Quartette, The Kalima Brothers, Surfers, Invitations, Billy Gonsales & the Paradise Serenaders.
Its time for a concert featuring several groups that
continue to celebrate this "style" of close four
part harmony. There's a handful out there still performing "live" such as Na Hokupa, The Soundettes of Hawaii, Brickwood Galuteria & Imaikalani Young & Friends , Kimo Husseys -Ho'omalie, Pali, Jake Hoopai's "Once in a while Band". There are sound bites at www.hawaiianharmony.com that demonstrate this style of harmony. Aloha Means Love, Hawaii Calls, Mahina Hoku,
Nanakuli Medley, E liliu e , Puamana, Maunaloa, just to name a few songs as an
example of the "full sound" of this style of "close four part harmony"..thanks for your time....A concert is in the planning stages. If anyone out there has some ideas let
me know.... if you wanna join in on the fun let me know.thanks again...ellen
