Was just wondering if Arthur Lyman, the founder of the Arthur Lyman Group, would meet the requirements for consideration into the Hall of Fame. His beautiful mellow instrumental music certainly defined Hawai'i in the 50's & 60's for millions of people.

Aloha Betty, since no one is answering your question, I'll toss in my 2 cents, as I also appreciate 'Ata'. Not that stranger things havn't occured, but I see no reason why he couldn't, shouldn't or wouldn't be included. A wonderful man who played beautiful music and represented the islands as well as anyone ought to be instituted asap. His passing was and is such a loss. Just keep playing his music!

I'll second that recommendation. Lyman also played in the Exotic Sounds of Martin Denny, plus he did some amazing bongo cuts, like "Bwana' a". The LATITUDE 20 album is a psychedelic/exotica masterpiece.

So I wonder who do you contact to pursue Arthur's nomination into the Hall of Fame?

The committee of esteemed musical talent which makes the annual selection, has a long list of potential honorees. For details about the selection process, see:

I did not realize that others felt the same as I and had entered their comments here...I will add my name to those that feel that Arthur Lyman deserves to be in the Hall of Fame...or no one does! I have some of his albums and my treasure is the vinyl record he gave to me personally. I knew Arthur Lyman and considered him my friend...and if he is not eligible, then on one is!
