| William Keahonui Kahakalau played ukulele, steel guitar, sang and danced. He was born and played in islands early years (c.1915). Then moved to US. David Kaili reknowned steel guitarist and his wife (singer), Queenie (?). Would love to talk to someone who knew or knew of these musicians. I have been looking for photos of them for most of my life. Mahalo nui, Joan |

Geo. Kanahele's encylopedia "Hawaiian Music & Musicians" has a number of reference to David Kaili. He was the half-brother of composer Alfred Alohikea of Kauai ( "Hanohano Hanalei"). Kaili toured widely in the U.S. and Far East with his wife Queenie. His recordings were popular 1915-1918, where they were sold at tent shows and vaudeville programs where he played. He recorded with Irene West and Pale K. Lua. |
