Hello, I have found a coin on my property and am interested in it's heritage and perhaps why I found it on my property. I live in Davis, California and have found a coin dated 1883 with the inscription on the head side... Kalakaua I King of Hawaii with his profile, and on the reverse side, what looks like a shield going around the top with the letters...
"UAMAUKEEAOKA AINA I KA PONO. And then on the bottom it reads...HAPAHA. I'm wondering if you can help me identify this coin and it's origin or if you can please be so kind as to refer me...any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Sara

Here is a coin site that will give you information about our Hawaiian coin..it sounds as if you have a 25 cent piece.

http://www.coinfacts.com/hawaiian_coins/hawaiian_coins.htm

This site should give you information on the different coins.
