What a strong Hawaiian culture entity the HMHF has become! Many thanks for this vibrant growth go to James Stone,Nola Nahulu, Ku'uipo Kumakahi, "K" Lake, and all the tireless musicians who never stop performing traditional Hawaiian music under the banner of Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. HMHF is all I could have wanted it to become; all that I wished for back in 1994 when Joe Paikai, Dave Moncrief and I walked into City Hall to register HMHF as a non-profit corporation. Thank you. Wish I could be there to listen; I would be clapping the loudest!

Subject: What's happening in 2008?
Posted on 4/1/08 at 1:34pm

It's now April 1, and I've been fooled I think. I went straight to the News category to see what happened recently, and what's happening next? Surely there's something going on with HMHF, even in a smaller-than-Hawai'i-Theatre scene, before it's time for Ka Himeni Ana.

Not a word written with a 2008 date.

Here's a 2008 thought for Ku'uipo to consider: a combo Halau/HMHF singers program at the theater on Windward College campus, with an interpretive commentary on what the hula movements mean & history of the song being sung/played? Maybe in an afternoon for K-12 students? REMEMBER the 2nd floor theater lobby is where the HMHF exhibits still stand (I think). Good educational program.

Miss you all. Aloha pumehana,
Marjorie Scott

Subject: A Program Idea for Ku'uipo
Posted on 4/1/08 at 1:13pm

Please go to my first message "Mahalo" where I added a "What's happening in 2008?" and an idea for Ku'uipo. I'd like to hear about more attention being given to the Windward side, especially in or for the schools.
