Two requests: Greetings to all fans of good music! Anyone have any records by / history of / singer Clara Inter? She recorded for Decca in probably the late 1930s or early 1940s. She was a wonderful singer with a kind and gentle voice, and a comic personality. I missed out on a CD called The Best of Harry Owens and his Royal Hawaiians. It would fit the format of my Rhythm Sweet & Hot radio show. There's one for sale on Amazon for $27 but that's ridiculous. Willing to part with your copy or make me a dub? www.google.com is a great search tool -- lots of stuff for "clara inter", including this page: http://www.squareone.org/Hapa/clara.html Unfortunately none of her solo recordings -- as "Hilo Hattie" -- made it to CD format. |

Reply for Mike Plaskett: I have the Hilo Hattie album of 3 78s that was released in 1939, and have managed to put all but 1 selection on CD - "When Hilo Hattie does the Hula Hop" skips (dirt, I think), so it hasn't made it. Yet! If there are no copywrite issues with doing so, I would be willing to share. Hope this helps in your search! |
